So it is Thursday August 12th and I am in Shanghai.  I got here yesterday afternoon.  On the plane ride over I was already eating food I would never normally eat.  I am not a very adventurous eater, but I told myself I was going to try all kinds of local foods.  So on the plane to Shanghai I ate shrimp (I am not a seafood eater), mushrooms (I don't eat most vegetables nor fungus), some unidentified meat/seafood (I don't know what it was - it kind of looked like octopus, but it was very chewy), and bean curd (I think it is like soy beans or something).  It was all okay.  I didn't die from it and I didn't throw it up, so that is good.

Once the plane landed I had to take a bus to the city then I had to walk what felt like 100 miles across the city to find my hostel.  Luckily some very nice locals helped me find my way.  In fact, they all stop working and they were all looking at maps trying to find the hostel for me.  It was kind of funny as the entire office shut down to help me out.  That was very nice of them.  So after all that I finally found my hostel.  Oh yeah and did I mention it was humid as heck and like 90 something degrees F outside.  By the time I got to my hostel carrying a huge backpack and wearing jeans it looked like I just got out of the pool.  I was dripping wet in sweat.  First thing I did at the hostel was shower off.  It felt soooooooo good.  I was super tired after traveling for like 24 hours so I went to bed early last night.

Here is a picture of my nice hostel from the street.  It is the brown building with the orange and white circular sign.

Here is my closet sized room that fits four beds in it.  At least it has lockers to store my stuff in.
