Last night I was invited to the nightly "family" dinner that the staff always has.  The owner asked me if I would like to join them.  Of course I accepted her offer.  We sat out front at the other restaurant where two ladies were cooking up a storm.  To start we had fried zucchini and a shrimp/chili sauce.

The sauce smelled bad and tasted even worst.  You couldn't smell it from far away so luckily I only took a little bit of the sauce.  It was tasted and smelled like old shrimp that had been ground up and then left to sit for a long time.  I think they knew it was not a very pleasant sauce because when the owner asked if I liked it she had a funny smile on her face.  I told her it was my favorite and then she told me that many people do not like it, but it is a traditional sauce.  They all then laughed of course as she told them I didn't like it.  I think they expected me to not like it.  Next we had sweet and sour chicken with rice.

Then they brought me a piece of fried fish with fried garlic on top.  The fish was good especially the fried garlic.

I was also given a vegetable soup.  The soup was like yesterday's soup except no noodles and less meat.

Finally we had salad and some Thai style chips and dip.

All the food was very good except for the shrimp/chili sauce that came with the fried zucchini.  We sat and ate dinner together and we talked a little bit.  The owner told me about her trips to America and how cold it was when she went to New York in the winter time.  I thanked them for dinner and offered to pay, but they wouldn't let me.  So I thanked them again and went back to my room.  As I walked to my room I realized that I have been traveling for exactly 2 months and I will be home having a family dinner like this with my family in just 1 more month.
