Job and Work Visa Update
No news on the job applications, but it has only been a week. I don't expect to hear anything for about a month as the job openings don't close until the end of the month. As far as the work visa goes I submitted some supporting documents, but haven't heard anything since. I should be getting my employmeny pass any time now. As soon as I get that I can apply for the actual visa. Well that is it for now. I haven't done much this week as we are in the middle of searching for a new apartment. Our lease ends at the end of the month so we need to find something soon. We are viewing some apartments today and on Saturday. Hopefully we will have something by the end of the week. I did get to see 3 movies this week. I saw No Strings Attached, Unknown, and True Grit. They were all entertaining, but nothing special. The movie releases over here are so random. They have Chinese, Indian, local movies (not many local movies though), and US movies. The random thing is how the US movies are released. Some movies are released at the same time as the US and some are later than the US. For example, a few weeks ago I went to see a newly released movie called Triangle. Well shortly after the movie started it seemed familiar. Then after 5 minutes I realized I watched the movie over a year ago on DVD which means that it had to have been in theaters in the US about 2 years ago. So now that I know this I check the new releases more carefully and I have noticed quite a few older movies just being released. There seems to be no pattern or reason why US movies come out at so many different times compared to the US. I also find it interesting that they sell salted popcorn (regular) and sweet popcorn (kettlecorn). In fact sweet popcorn is more popular. I prefer salted, but sometimes I like to get half and half. One last note about movies is that instead of having a few theaters with large rooms like we have in the US, here they have a ton of theaters with smaller rooms. So pretty much every mall has a theater (and there are a ton of malls) and you can find movies at a ton of different theaters. You also find a huge selection of available movies which helps a lot since they show movies from basically 3 countries (US, China, and India). Anyways, I figured I would share these insights as I spent a lot of time at the movies this week. I am currently taking pictures of the local food so I can do a food blog in the coming weeks. Other than that it is just normal life over here for me. I also have visitors officially coming in April and May so I will definitely have some interesting stuff to blog about then. Have a great week everybody and I'll talk to you next week.
