Local Dinner
Just the other day I found out the hotel has another restaurant out front. Actually I am not sure if the hotel owns it or if one of the employees of the hotel owns it. I had seen it before, but they just opened it yesterday. I am not sure why it was closed before. The cook at the restaurant is one of the cooks from the other hotel restaurant so I know the food will be good. This new restaurant is more for the locals. It is along side the road and serves more local food at a cheaper price. So last night on my way to dinner the owner of the hotel asked if I wanted to try Thai noodle soup. After saying yes I followed her out front to the new restaurant where I sat down in a bamboo hut style table..jpg)
My only options tonight were beef or chicken and what style noodles I wanted. I chose beef and let the cook pick her favorite noodles. After a few minutes the soup arrived..jpg)
The soup was filled with noodles, sliced beef, balls of packed beef, and vegetables..jpg)
Here is a look at the noodles. So after being served I took a few bites. Then the cook came back over to see if I liked it. She noticed I had not put any condiments in the soup so she started pointing out the condiments on the table. So as she stood there watching I just randomly took a scoop of peppers and added them to the soup. I had no clue how much to put in so I went back for another scoop and she stopped me saying the peppers were very hot. So I mixed in the peppers and started eating again. The soup was very good and definitely hot. By the time I finished I was sweating all over. I don't know if it was from sitting out in the humidity or from the peppers. It was probably a combination of both. When I was done I told her the soup was delicious and hot. She just laughed as I am sure she could see that I was all sweaty. The best part was the meal was less than $2 which is about 1/3 of what I usually pay for dinner at the other hotel restaurant.
