Special Mushroom And Peppers

So this morning at breakfast I was invited to try a local specialty. A particular mushroom and pepper that only grows here in the south of Thailand. I was told to come down around noon for lunch. So after breakfast I retired to my room to sit on the balcony and read a book. It was very peaceful and relaxing out there especially with the sights and sounds of the ocean along with the ocean breeze. So I headed down to the restaurant about noon. I waited on the deck overlooking the beach while they finish cooking. While I was waiting a friend stop by to see me.

This is one of the hotel pet cats. I think this is the one that just had kittens the last time I was here. Finally they called me to lunch and I sat down to a nice local dish. I had yellow fish curry with the local mushrooms and peppers over steamed rice.

There was also fried egg with chicken inside.

I was also given a Chinese bean soup and fried bananas for dessert.

Everything was delicious. I told them I was going to get very fat by the time I left if they kept cooking such great meals. I am so full right now I think I will probably skip dinner tonight. On my way back to my room I ran into this critter.

I saw this moth last night, but didn't have my camera until now. This thing is huge. It is about the size of a softball, but flat. Notice the two "eyes" on it's wings. Those are used to trick potential predators and scare them off. In the animal world big eyes are scary to smaller animals especially in the dark when you can't really see the size of the body. So a predator will see the fakes eyes and think the moth is bigger than it really is and leave it alone. Nature is so fascinating.
