Things I Like About Krabi Tropical Beach Resort

I just can't say enough about this place. This place is perfect for anyone wanting a relaxing vacation in a tropical beach setting. Just a few minutes away is Ao Nang which is more lively and there are plenty of tours to do here. I would not hesitate to come back here by myself, with someone else, or as a family. This place is perfect for just about everyone and it is cheap. I pay on average $5-$7 per meal at the hotel and they are filling meals. I only eat 2 meals a day because they are so filling. In fact I have the hotel to myself now and so I am the center of attention. I am noticing that each meal I eat is getting a little bigger and bigger. By the time I leave here I might only be eating one meal a day. The hotel is cheap too. I am only paying about $27 a night for this slice of paradise rolled up in a piece of heaven and my room is fantastic. They only have 15 rooms so it will never be too crazy here. It is low season which is why no one is here. I am told that during high season they are quite busy, but I can't imagine that the service and quality of this place is anything less. Although I have to admit I kind of like having the place to myself. I get lots of time to myself, but I also get to interact with the staff a lot. They are even starting to try and teach my some words in Thai. I do my best, but unfortunately with my hearing we are fighting a losing battle. I see the owner on a daily basis although I have not really interacted with her yet. So is a nice old Thai (?) lady. The other members of the hotel staff have told me that they enjoy working for her. I also find it interesting here because some of the staff lives on the grounds. So I see them relaxing outside at the end of the day or I see them eating meals. My favorite thing is one of them has a young daughter about 10 years old and I do not see her during the day (probably because she is at school), but then I see her at night. I get to see her playing with the kittens that live here or doing homework and I feel like I am getting to see their real lives in action. It is almost like I am a guest in their home. I don't really feel like I am a customer. I don't feel like they are being nice to me or talking to me because it is their job. I feel like they want to interact with me and they want me to feel at home. When I spend money here I don't feel like I am spending money. I feel like I am supporting my extended family. I want to spend as much money here as possible because I want to support them and do whatever I can to help them stay in business. Although I am sure they make all their money during high season so they are fine. But I feel good doing my part to support this place. They are even starting to learn my habits. For example, one of the older guys doesn't speak a whole lot of English, but he says hi everyday and we always smile at each other. It is like we don't need words to communicate. Anyways, I like to finish every evening with a rest in the jacuzzi before having dinner and so this guy always sees me coming down in the early evening and he is turning on the jacuzzi for me before I am even there. I think this place has moved into my top spot as favorite destination so far. I didn't think any place would beat Yangshuo, China, but this place has and I can't imagine any place that will beat this place. But it is a big world and you never know what is waiting for you around the corner.
